About RentReadyScore
This site is personal to me.
Not because I built it. Because I've lived exactly what you're dealing with right now.
Criminal history. Bad credit. Poverty. I didn't read about these barriers in a textbook. I navigated them myself. I paroled from federal prison in 2024 and walked into a world that had moved on without me. Employment came first, then credit, then the hardest part: finding somewhere to live.
I know what it feels like to get denied. Then denied again. To pay application fees you can't afford and walk away with nothing. To wonder if the system will ever give you a real shot.
That experience is what built this site.
I spend my days doing this work as an SSVF housing navigator, helping real people find not just a roof, but a home that actually fits their life. I work directly with property managers to get people housed, write letters of explanation, file appeals after denials, and have honest conversations with clients about what is realistic given their specific barriers. I help people plan for what happens when services end, because they almost always do, and the rent still has to get paid.
RentReadyScore exists because most people facing these barriers never get straight answers. They get vague advice, generic tips, or tools built for people who never needed help in the first place.
This was built for people who need it to actually work.
